Most newsreaders will allow you to select which ports to use. All XLNed accounts come with ports 119, 80, 563(SSL), and 443(SSL) enabled. We usually suggest using ports 563 or 443, as both are SSL secured.

Please note: Using SSL costs computing power. Many of our members will not notice this, but if you have a slower or older computer, SSL based downloads may be slower because the computer cannot keep up with decrypting large amounts of files. The faster your internet connection is, the faster the download speed and the faster your computer needs to decrypt the stream. Usually, this is not an issue, however, if you're experiencing download issues, are on an older computer, and are using a secure port, changing to a non-SSL port(either 119 or 80) may speed up your downloads.
